Cash, cards and currency exchange

- When exchanging money, since Hong Kong dollars are not widely circulated in Japan and the rates are not favorable, it is recommended to exchange Japanese yen for Hong Kong dollars in Hong Kong.
- You can exchange money at the airport, banks, or currency exchange offices in the city.
- Since rates vary by exchange office, it is recommended to compare them carefully before exchanging.
- Most shops in Hong Kong accept credit cards. However, some places like street stalls and taxis may only accept cash, so it's best to carry both cards and cash.

Tips

Tipping is customary.
- There are no strict rules, but tips are usually around 10% of the bill. In restaurants, a 10% service charge is often included, so it is common to leave about 5% in cash when you leave.
- You should also tip hotel porters and when you receive special services.

Public order

- There are no particularly dangerous areas in Hong Kong, but pickpocketing and scams are more likely in crowded places and tourist spots.
- Always keep your valuables with you, avoid walking alone at night, and ignore strangers who approach you.

There are no mandatory requirements for entry.
The hepatitis A vaccine, hepatitis B vaccine, typhoid vaccine, Japanese encephalitis vaccine, and rabies vaccine are not mandatory, but vaccination is recommended.
