I hold a Ph.D. in Egyptology and began working as an Egyptology tour guide in early 2001. My love for Egypt is not merely academic; it is a bright flame burning within my heart. I wish to share it with people all over the world. After working as a tour guide for five years, I established a travel company that puts travelers first. It was born out of a deep love for Egypt and a desire to welcome every visitor as someone special. Our slogan is "Where Passion Makes You Special." We fulfill the promise that every tour is not just a trip, but an unforgettable experience crafted with attention to every detail.

What kind of country is Jordan?

Jordan is known to have been inhabited by humans since the Paleolithic era, around 500,000 years ago.

As civilizations developed in Western Asia, Jordan flourished as a center of trade and has evolved alongside the rise and fall of many nations.
Jordan is also famous as a filming location for movies. Highlights include the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Petra, built over 2,000 years ago by the industrious Nabataeans—an Arab tribe who settled in the area—which is well known as the setting for "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade"; Wadi Rum, the desert featured in "Lawrence of Arabia" and "Aladdin"; and Karak, a 12th-century Crusader castle known for its appearance in the film "Kingdom of Heaven."

Jordan is also rich in natural wonders, such as the Dana Biosphere Reserve and Mujib Biosphere Reserve, where you can encounter endangered species, as well as the Dead Sea, famous for its salt concentration dozens of times higher than that of seawater.

Among Middle Eastern countries, Jordan is relatively open and has welcomed many travelers. We invite you to enjoy a truly special journey of your own here.

Cash, cards and currency exchange
The local currency in Jordan is the Jordanian Dinar. At the same time, US dollars are widely accepted everywhere, so it is recommended to bring US dollars as cash from Japan, as they are easy to exchange.

Visa and MasterCard are accepted at major hotels and stores. However, many places still do not accept JCB, so please be aware.
Tips
Tipping culture exists in Jordan.
Unusually, tipping is required for using restrooms. It is said to be about $1 for two people.
Additionally, it is recommended to give a tip of about $1–2 when you have a driver, someone helps with your luggage, or you request any service at a hotel.
For drivers accompanying your guide, the tip is generally around $10–40 depending on the distance. For guides, $20–40 is recommended. Of course, if you receive excellent service, a little extra gratuity will be appreciated.
Public order
Jordan is considered one of the more stable countries in the Middle East in terms of security. However, due to social issues such as the recent increase in unemployment, crime rates remain high, so please exercise caution.

In addition to robberies at tourist sites, troubles with taxi drivers have also been reported.
clothing
Regarding clothing, depending on the location and occasion, please avoid wearing overly revealing outfits such as sleeveless tops or shorts.
Also, bring a hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun, as well as comfortable, well-worn sneakers. Since you may have the opportunity to ride a horse while sightseeing in Petra, pants are especially recommended for women.
At the Dead Sea, you can enjoy floating in a swimsuit all year round. Beach sandals are also convenient to have.
Things you should bring
Multi-plug adapter, regular medication, Wi-Fi, scarf, mobile battery, sun protection items, insect repellent, overseas travel insurance
Visa availability and arrangements
There is no visa waiver agreement between Japan and Jordan, but if you enter with a Japanese passport, you can obtain a 30-day stay permit (visa on arrival) free of charge at the airport or border office upon entry. Please note that your passport must have at least six months of validity remaining and at least two unused visa pages at the time of entry.
Required vaccinations
There are no mandatory requirements for travel.

However, if you are participating in the Hajj, you will be required to present certificates of vaccination against meningococcal meningitis and seasonal influenza.
Things to note
Although Jordan has a relatively liberal atmosphere compared to other countries in the Middle East, it is a nation where the majority of the population is Muslim. It is advisable to understand and respect their religious rules and values.

In addition to being mindful of clothing and culture, it is important to understand and observe these customs during religious events such as Hajj and Ramadan.
Regarding alcohol consumption, the region is relatively tolerant compared to other parts of the Middle East. However, causing a disturbance in public places, such as being intoxicated and shouting loudly, may result in penalties. Additionally, during Ramadan (the month of fasting), most hotels and restaurants that usually serve alcohol refrain from selling alcoholic beverages.
