Things you might be curious about when traveling to Kuwait.

Cash, cards and currency exchange

The currency of Kuwait is the Kuwaiti Dinar.
It is difficult to exchange Japanese yen in Kuwait, so it is recommended to convert your money to US dollars in Japan first, and then exchange it for the local currency at the airport or a currency exchange office upon arrival.
You can withdraw cash using credit or debit cards at banks and other financial institutions.
Credit cards are accepted in urban areas, but it is safer to have cash when visiting rural areas or street stalls.

Tips

　There is no custom of tipping. However, if you receive good service at a restaurant, it is a good idea to leave about 10% of the bill as a tip. It is also common to tip guides, with around $20 per day being the standard.

Public order

Although Kuwait is relatively safe, you should be cautious in large, crowded facilities, as incidents such as pickpocketing, car theft, vehicle break-ins, and even assaults triggered by minor disputes have been reported.
Be aware that there have also been crimes committed by people posing as police officers.

clothing

Since it is hot and humid throughout the year, it is recommended to wear breathable clothing. However, as it is an Islamic country, it is advisable to choose clothing that does not expose much skin.
As the sunlight is strong, don't forget to take sun protection measures such as sunglasses and hats.
If you plan to visit religious sites, women should prepare a scarf to cover their heads, as well as long-sleeved tops and long pants.
Comfortable sneakers are recommended for footwear.

Things you should bring

Multi-plug adapter, regular medication, mobile battery, overseas travel insurance, sun protection, scarf, and flushable tissues (as some restrooms may not provide paper).

Visa availability and arrangements

You are required to obtain a visa to enter Kuwait.
There are two ways to obtain a visa: you can apply for an e-VISA in advance through the Kuwait Ministry of Interior website (https://evisa.moi.gov.kw/evisa/home_e.do), or apply for a visa on arrival at the airport.

Required vaccinations

There are no mandatory requirements for entry.

Things to note

Photography is prohibited at and around the royal palace, oil-related facilities, communication facilities, government-related facilities, embassies, military facilities, airports, and port facilities.
Also, taking photos of women without permission can lead to trouble, so please be careful.
Bringing alcohol into the country is also prohibited.
