My name is Matsueda from Mexico. I dare to write Mexico → Mexico. I have never met anyone who has traveled to this country more than me, whether Japan or Mexican. In Japan, the old man does not have as much presence as the borrowed cat, but it should be reasonably useful on a trip to Mexico. My job is to squeeze out my wisdom so that you can see as much as possible what you want to see in Mexico so that you can see what you want to see as much as possible. We look forward to seeing you in Mexico.

At my previous job at a major travel agency, I assisted Japanese expatriates and companies in South America. With the support of the Japanese community, I learned about the unique business customs of South America and realized how challenging these countries can be. This experience inspired me to start my own business, aiming to provide the speed, quality, and meticulous service expected by Japanese clients. Drawing on nearly 10 years of experience in the travel industry in Brazil, I strive every day to become the only local operator who can clearly propose and explain the often complex local details in these distant destinations from Japan.

Since childhood, I have always been interested in other countries. Even after I started earning my own money in university and later in society, I would spend my free time thinking about where I wanted to go next. (Though I didn’t have much money, so I couldn’t often travel outside Japan...) Sometimes, I would set off from Narita alone, with only a plane ticket in hand and just a rough plan.
Now, I find myself living in South America—something I never imagined. These days, I truly feel that you never know what life has in store.
However, after starting my life in Ecuador and discovering its wonderful tourism resources and traditional crafts, I began to wish that more people around the world could learn about them. Hoping to contribute, even in a small way, to the country's development, I decided to join a local travel agency.
A place you might think of as 'the other side of the world'—so far away—may feel much closer once you visit. Let’s leave everyday life behind and share new encounters and experiences together. I look forward to welcoming you on the other side of the world.

What kind of country is Mexico?

Mexico is located in the southern part of North America and is the most populous Spanish-speaking country. In Mexico, you can experience various adventures, from tundra plateaus to jungles.
You can gaze at the starry sky in the desert, canoe through mangrove forests, and visit Mexico's diverse aspects such as streams, cliffs, and coral reefs.
Mayan cultural ruins are also popular tourist destinations. It's a country where you can fully enjoy both ruins and nature.

    Cash, cards and currency exchange
Cash payments are still deeply rooted. Aside from cash, prepaid cards and debit cards are widely used in Mexico. While there are places where credit cards are accepted, most of them only accept 'VISA' or 'Mastercard'.
・Carrying about 30 USD per day in cash might provide peace of mind while traveling.
・Since direct exchange from Japanese Yen to Mexican Peso is not possible, exchange to USD first before converting.
    Tips
When paying by card, you select or input the tip percentage. When paying in cash, it's common to leave the tip on the table.
    ・Dining costs: around 10-15%
・Street stalls, markets, and eateries called Comida Corrida: tipping is not mandatory
    Public order
・Some areas can be quite dangerous. Please be sure to check the latest information provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Be very careful of pickpockets and theft, and avoid walking alone at night.
    clothing
・To reduce the risk of crime, avoid exposure.
    Things you should bring
・Stomach medicine, cold medicine, mobile battery, insect repellent, sun protection items, etc.
    Visa availability and arrangements
・No visa required in the following cases
    ★If you hold Japanese nationality
    1) Tourism, business (excluding remunerated activities), transit, diplomatic or official purposes within 180 days
    2) Passport must be valid until return with at least one unused visa page
    3) Submission of FMM (FORMA MIGRATORIA MULTIPLE) is required upon entry. FMM can be obtained on the plane for air travel or at the entry point for land travel
★If you are a permanent resident of Japan, the USA, Canada, the UK, or Schengen Agreement countries
    1) Tourism, business (excluding remunerated activities), transit, lectures, conferences, sports, or event participation without remuneration within 180 days
    2)パスポートの有効期限が帰国時まで有効で未使用査証欄が1ページ以上
    3)入国時にFMM(FORMA MIGRATORIA MULTIPLE)の提出が必要。FMMは空路の場合は機内で、陸路の場合は入国地で入手可能
    4) Presentation of a 'Permanent Resident' or 'Special Permanent Resident' stamp (seal) or certificate in the passport (or re-entry permit) is required upon entry
★If you hold a US visa

If Japanese nationals not covered above plan to stay for more than 180 days or engage in remunerated activities even for a short period within 180 days, a visa must be obtained in advance.
Visas can be obtained at the Embassy of the United Mexican States in Tokyo. Biometric registration (fingerprints and photo) is required at the time of application, so only personal applications are accepted (proxy receipt is possible).
    Required vaccinations
There are no mandatory vaccinations for entry, but tetanus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and typhoid vaccinations are recommended for both adults and children.
Additionally, rabies vaccination is recommended for 'long-term residents,' 'children,' 'those planning outdoor activities,' 'those frequently in contact with animals,' and 'those traveling to areas where rabies vaccination is difficult after an animal injury.'
