  After eight years at a Japanese travel agency specializing in remote destinations—gaining expertise in planning, sales, and tour escorting—I was enchanted by Guatemala during a single day as a tour escort and moved there alone. In Guatemala, I worked for ten years as a cultural and public relations officer at the Embassy of Japan in Guatemala.
  Building a network in Guatemala and wishing to share its appeal with more people in Japan, I established a government-approved travel agency with my husband, Shingo Matsumoto, in January 2004. I am certified as a travel service supervisor and as a government-approved guide by the Guatemala Tourism Board, and have been in the travel industry for over 30 years. I am excited to share the wonders of Guatemala and Central America with you!

  With the generous support of the Japanese community, I learned about the unique business customs of South America and realized firsthand how challenging the country could be.   Since childhood, I have always been interested in other countries. Even after I started earning my own money in university and later in society, I would spend my free time thinking about where I wanted to go next. (Though I didn’t have much money, so I couldn’t often travel outside Japan...) Sometimes, I would set off from Narita alone, with only a plane ticket in hand and just a rough plan.
  Now, I find myself living in South America—something I never imagined. These days, I truly feel that you never know what life has in store.
  However, after starting my life in Ecuador and discovering its wonderful tourism resources and traditional crafts, I began to wish that more people around the world could learn about them. Hoping to contribute, even in a small way, to the country's development, I decided to join a local travel agency.
  A place you might think of as 'the other side of the world'—so far away—may feel much closer once you visit. Let’s leave everyday life behind and share new encounters and experiences together. I look forward to welcoming you on the other side of the world.
