Recommended travel points

The average summer temperature is about 10 degrees lower than in Japan, and the Dutch summer is full of beautiful greenery.
This is a sample plan that you can enjoy at a relatively reasonable price where you can learn about culture and history through activities recommended for families, such as cycling and canoeing, which can be enjoyed in the Netherlands in the summer, and feel the local life while using public transportation.

From the canals of Amsterdam, a World Heritage Site, you will use public transportation to get around the site, and head to Rotterdam, which has flourished as a port city, while getting a glimpse of local daily life in several cities.
There are also cultural experiences such as the water bus where you can enjoy the windmills of Kinderdijk, another World Heritage Site, the medieval atmosphere of Muiden Castle, a museum of unusual street art in Amsterdam, and a stroopwaffle workshop, which is not very familiar in Japan.
You can visit the beautiful towns of Haarlem, Hoorn, Medemblik and Gouda, which have a Dutch character. It's sure to be a great opportunity to feel the wide range of history, from the Middle Ages to the pioneer era and the present day!

Of course, I want to make my trip more active! I want to make it a trip to experience more Dutch art! Such wishes can also be realized with Oooh.
Talk to your local coordinator and enjoy your own tailor-made journey.

    Breakfast at the hotel.

Day 3 will be a self-guided visit to historical sites in the Netherlands.

First of all, take public transport to Muiden Castle, which is about 15 km away from Amsterdam. Muiden Castle is a medieval castle whose foundation was built in the 13th century, and due to its good state of preservation, it is now a museum that welcomes many people. It looks like a castle in a game, and you can imagine what it was like at that time.

After enjoying the castle, take a ferry to the Pampas Fortress, which has been selected as one of the World Heritage Sites of Amsterdam.

The line consists of several fortifications and embankments that span a total of about 135 kilometres around the city of Amsterdam, which was planned in 1874 and completed in 1914. It is the only one known to be at sea, and you can see the rooms and the cannons that were equipped at that time. If you bring a take-out lunch, you can enjoy a leisurely picnic while enjoying the view of the water.

After a relaxing day, use public transport to return to Amsterdam.

    NDSM Wharf Amsterdam

    Amsterdam North

After breakfast at the hotel, join the locals on a ferry across the Firth of Ij to the north of Amsterdam.

First of all, go to the street art museum STRAAT. You can enjoy the work of up-and-coming talented artists from around the world, as well as live artwork. STRAAT is located in a former shipyard called NDSM Wharf, which has become a hot spot for various cultural activities.

Next, head to Adam Lookout. It is the tallest building in the neighborhood and offers a beautiful panorama of Amsterdam's beautiful waterways and historic cityscape.
If you're looking for something thrilling, try the rooftop swing, which is the highest swing in Europe. The swing, which protrudes about 100 meters from the edge of the tower and allows you to see the ground, is impressive.

Afterward, you'll be transferred back to your hotel.

    Haarlem seaside

    Haarlem

After breakfast at the hotel, take a 15-minute train ride to the coastal town of Haarlem.

Grab your sunglasses and towel and head to the beach in Haarlem!
Rent a bicycle from a rental bicycle and enjoy cycling on a safe route for about 10 kilometers towards the sea.
Park your bike and enjoy the waves along the coast. It is also recommended to buy a drink and enjoy it at the shops along the beach.
If you like nature, you may want to see a lot of animals and plants in the Zuid=Kennemerland National Park on the way.

The city of Haarlem is also known as the city of flowers, and the horticultural industry is thriving. There are still many buildings that retain the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, and there are squares decorated with many plants, so it is recommended to take a walk to enjoy the very cute cityscape.
After using the bike for as long as you like, return it and hop back on the train back to Amsterdam.

    Dutch steam locomotive

Hoorn Steam Locomotive Experience and Seidelkai Museum

After breakfast, we will make the journey to Hoorn.
It will be a day full of activities that will make you feel the history.

In the charming historic town of Hoorn, you'll ride a real steam locomotive and feel like you were 100 years ago. On the way, we passed a cute little town built in the 1880s and came to the town of Medemblik.

After the steam locomotive, hop aboard the museum ship Friesland for a cruise around IJsselmeer. Formerly known as the sea, it is now the largest lake in the Netherlands and has a wide range of water. Cruise past some of the city's lovely old port towns and buildings on your way to Enkhuizen.
In Enkhuizen, go to the Seidelkai Museum. There are about 130 old-fashioned buildings left in the area, and people dressed in traditional costumes. You can see how people actually lived in the distant past.

  • Day 8

    The Windmills of Kinderdijk-Elshout

    Kinderdijk windmills

After breakfast at the hotel, you will board a public boat called a water bus to visit the windmills of Kinderdijk-Elshout, which is also a World Heritage Site.

In the 18th century, 16 wooden windmills were built to operate pumps that had been used in important reclamation projects to make use of much of the country's land. You can see them lined up on both sides of the water's edge. Until 1868, it was used to drain water, and since then, it has ceased to serve as a pump with electricity or steam in many places. The sight of so many windmills lined up neatly is a unique scenery here, and it is a must-visit spot when you come to the Netherlands.
The sight of windmills nestled in the summer sky and greenery is a photogenic and moving scenery.

After returning to Rotterdam by water bus, you'll have free time to spend at your leisure.

You can go to the places you were interested in during the cycling the day before, or you can go out into the city to look for souvenirs.

    Gouda Cheese Market

    Gouda

After breakfast at the hotel, head to the train station.
From Rotterdam, take the train northeast to the city of Gouda in less than 20 minutes.

As the name suggests, it is known as the birthplace of Gouda cheese.
The city of Gouda is famous for its many small waterways, which are also suitable for exploring on foot. There is a plaza between the buildings, and a cheese market is held every Thursday in the summer. There's plenty to see, including a weighing facility that has been turned into a museum with the history of Gouda's cheese market, and a family-run local bakery. Get hands-on experience with how to make the most famous cookie in the Netherlands, the mouth-watering stroopwafel. This waffle is made with caramel sandwiched between two layers of dough. First of all, you can get an explanation, then actually make it, and of course, you can taste it!

Then, go green countryside cycling with a guide who knows the local area well. You'll drive through the lush countryside around Gouda, seeing windmills and Dutch buildings.

Enjoy a day of cheese and cycling, then return to Rotterdam by train.
