Indian Review

The local guide and the driver were both wonderful.

I booked a tour for 6 out of my 9 days on my first trip to India. When I told them my desired destinations, they immediately put together a feasible itinerary. Their responses were always prompt and detailed, which put me at ease. They were also helpful with minor details like tipping advice.
The local guide, Hari, was very accustomed to attending to Japanese guests. His thoughtfulness was always perfect, and he explained everything clearly no matter what I asked. The driving and attitude of all the drivers were very polite, and truly wonderful. The meals on the tour were all delicious.
We happened to be there on the day of the Ganesha festival, and I saw them decorating even the small Ganesha figurine in the car with flowers to celebrate. It made me feel like I was participating too, and it was heartwarming.
Fortunately, I stayed in good health throughout my trip and fully enjoyed my first journey to India. I never knew India could be such a fun place. The history is so long and deep, I want to visit again with Ooh.

I learned history

The guide was very knowledgeable, which allowed me to learn a lot about the history and made the sightseeing even more enjoyable.

Although my request was made on short notice, I appreciate your prompt response.

We visited a market run by the indigenous people living in the mountainous regions of Odisha.

Even though my request was sudden, arrangements such as providing a guide from Delhi were made,
and I received suggestions for the itinerary, including transportation methods.
I am truly grateful for everyone's support.

Regarding the guide, there was something I noticed,
I was rushed quite a bit during the market visit.
The original purpose was to enjoy the market,
I was taking photos, but being hurried made it less enjoyable.
Of course, I understand it was probably to keep to the schedule for the next transfer,
I was told that about 30 minutes had been allocated for the market visit.
(Isn't that a bit too short...? After that, we were scheduled to spend about six hours traveling to a hotel in another city.)
In the end, we were able to stay at the market for about an hour,
and since a local person also showed us around, I am grateful to the guide for all the arrangements.
Additionally, we were able to stop by a village that was not originally on the itinerary,
and I really appreciated the flexibility in accommodating this.

Another thing I noticed about the guide was that it would have been helpful if we could communicate a bit more in Japanese. Even when I rephrased things slowly in simple Japanese, there were still moments of confusion.
The guide was very polite and provided a lot of support,
but I think this is an area that could be improved.

Although I have mentioned several complaints, thanks to everyone's support, the tour was ultimately very satisfying.
Thank you very much for everything.

Although it feels a bit pricey...

At each sightseeing spot, there was no waiting in line, and we received treatment similar to that of VIPs.
The travel itinerary could be adjusted as needed within reasonable limits on site. As for meals, if you express your preferences, the guide will accommodate them within the budget provided by the travel agency.

There was no sense of being forced, but if you said you wanted something, you would be taken to a specialty store for that item. The products tended to be somewhat expensive, so it could end up being a costly purchase, but in the end, they were genuine items with price tags from the start, not fakes. The guide would also negotiate a small discount, so I suppose it's just a matter of personal responsibility.

Even when there was trouble on the first day of the trip (no pickup at the arrival airport), they responded via the Oooh messaging function, even though it was outside business hours in Japan. Other unclear issues during the trip were also communicated through Oooh's messaging function and were resolved immediately, which is commendable.

Overall, one negative aspect of this trip was that, although the amounts were not significant, I think the local expenses should have been detailed more thoroughly in advance.
In my case (what I felt)... The pre-trip itinerary stated that there would be no local expenses (except for tips for the guide and driver), but in reality, drinks at meals were charged separately, and tips for those payments were also extra. There were also tips for each person who assisted during hotel check-in and check-out (which really adds up), and additional tips for services used at various places. In short, it was tips, tips, and more tips... Perhaps because I'm not used to tipping, I felt that tips were the biggest expense on this trip. However, the guide always informed me of the appropriate amount, so I never overpaid.

Overall, I felt that the services and promptness I experienced here were things I wouldn't have received otherwise, especially when I saw people using other tours locally. While I can't say I was completely satisfied with everything, I was generally pleased and would consider using this service again.

It's safe even for a single woman

When I told people I was going to India alone as a woman, everyone around me was really worried, haha.
Having the guide with me at all times made me feel safe.
There were no safety issues, so if you're concerned about the facilities, it might be a good idea to upgrade your hotel. I found the three-star hotel sufficient this time, but if you want to relax more at the hotel, a four-star might be better.
The sunrise over the Ganges River was the most moving part of the sightseeing!
The desert in Jaisalmer was also wonderful. The jeep and camel rides were thrilling.

I recommend this for working adults who want to enjoy a custom-designed solo trip in India.

I used this service for a solo trip to India.
The biggest advantage is that you can basically customize your itinerary, and if you make requests in advance, you can visit the places you want to go.
Usually, solo tours with local guides cost about twice as much, but this seemed to be more affordable. During this trip, it coincided with the Kumbh Mela, and the day before, there was a tragic accident at Delhi Station where dozens of people lost their lives. Because of this, our train was delayed by more than 12 hours for two consecutive days, and there were sudden changes to our itinerary. If I had been traveling solo in my usual style, it would have been very difficult to complete the trip within the planned period.
Even locally, the guide was flexible with requests, such as if I just wanted to take photos. If you want to shop, the local guide will take you to the right places (they never push you, prices are market rates, and you can of course negotiate for discounts). The only time I felt things were overpriced or pushy was shopping at the multiple duty-free shops at New Delhi International Airport.

Traveling to a country where you don't know anyone is also safe.

Since I was fully attended to, I could travel with peace of mind even though I didn't speak the language, and I was able to have an efficient trip that wouldn't be possible with a package tour.

I enjoyed it with peace of mind!

I was never left alone and always had someone with me, which made me feel very secure!
They tailored the plan to each person and accommodated requests on the day as well.
It was my first time in India, but I didn’t have any stomach issues and was able to enjoy my time safely. Thank you 😊

Hotel and train bookings

The hotel near the airport was chosen for me, but I also stayed at other hotels in India. The showers were the type that weren't fixed, which made them easy to use, and all the breakfasts were delicious.
The train rides in India also became great memories.

Meal and hotel improvements

Northern India Tour, 13 Days

The tour was packed with the charms of North India, and both the guide and driver were experienced, so I was able to sightsee very efficiently. Thank you.

The hotels were supposed to be four-star, but except for Jaisalmer, they were far from that level. The hotel in Jodhpur had a club on the top floor, and I was troubled by loud noise until midnight. The selection of hotels needs improvement.

All the meals were arranged, but the menu was almost always the same, so I got bored. Where possible, I switched to à la carte menus. I felt that more local specialties and à la carte options should be included.

Even though the road conditions were poor, they planned the schedule so that sightseeing was not affected, and I was able to comfortably enjoy the wonderful architecture and culture. Thank you.

Cash, cards and currency exchange
Many shops in India do not have change for large bills, so be sure to carry plenty of small denominations.
Currency exchange is available at banks, airports, city exchange offices, and hotels rated four stars or higher.
In major cities like Delhi and Mumbai, Japanese yen can be exchanged, but in smaller or regional cities, it may not be possible or the rates may be poor, so it’s better to bring US dollars.
Tips
Hotel (for carrying luggage or ordering room service): Rs30 at mid-range hotels, Rs40-50 at luxury hotels
Restaurants: If a service charge is included, tipping is not necessary; otherwise, tip about 7-10%. At local restaurants, leaving small change is sufficient.
Public order
While not particularly dangerous, be cautious of pickpockets and bag snatchers in crowded areas such as airports and train stations.
There are many beggars, so it’s best not to engage with them.
clothing
In temples, women should avoid sleeveless tops and men should avoid shorts.
Things you should bring
・Gastrointestinal medicine, cold medicine, etc.
Visa availability and arrangements
・Visa is required.
Obtain your E Visa between 120 days and 4 days before departure.
You can also obtain a visa at the embassy, but the process is complicated, so an E Visa is recommended.
India’s visa regulations change frequently, so be sure to check the Indian embassy website for the latest information.
Required vaccinations
There are no mandatory requirements for travel.
