I gained expertise in planning, sales, and escorting tours for 8 years at a travel agency specializing in Japan's hidden gems. Then, captivated by Guatemala, which I visited on a single-day escort tour, I moved to Guatemala alone. I worked for 10 years as a cultural and public relations officer at the Japanese Embassy in Guatemala. Building connections in Guatemala, I established a government-approved travel agency in January 2004 with my husband, Shingo Matsumoto, to introduce Guatemala's charms to more Japanese people. I have over 30 years of experience in the travel industry, holding qualifications as a Travel Business Manager and a government-approved guide in Guatemala. I will deliver the charms of Guatemala and Central America to your heart's content!

At my previous job at a major travel agency, I assisted Japanese expatriates and companies in South America.
With the generous support of the Japanese community, I learned about the unique business customs of South America and realized firsthand how challenging the country could be. This experience inspired me to start my own business, aiming to provide the speed, quality, and meticulous service expected by Japanese clients.
Drawing on nearly 10 years of experience in the travel industry in Brazil, I strive every day to become the only local operator who can clearly propose and explain the often complex local details in these distant destinations from Japan.

Since childhood, I have always been interested in other countries. Even after I started earning my own money in university and later in society, I would spend my free time thinking about where I wanted to go next. (Though I didn’t have much money, so I couldn’t often travel outside Japan...) Sometimes, I would set off from Narita alone, with only a plane ticket in hand and just a rough plan.
Now, I find myself living in South America—something I never imagined. These days, I truly feel that you never know what life has in store.
However, after starting my life in Ecuador and discovering its wonderful tourism resources and traditional crafts, I began to wish that more people around the world could learn about them. Hoping to contribute, even in a small way, to the country's development, I decided to join a local travel agency.
A place you might think of as 'the other side of the world'—so far away—may feel much closer once you visit. Let’s leave everyday life behind and share new encounters and experiences together. I look forward to welcoming you on the other side of the world.

What kind of country is Honduras?

Honduras is a Central American country with an area about one-third the size of Japan.
Honduras was discovered by the Spanish explorer Columbus in the 16th century, but it is said that various indigenous peoples had already lived there, developing unique cultures and engaging in trade. The Copán Maya ruins, which offer a glimpse into life at that time, are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Notable features include the Acropolis with its remaining Altar Q, the Hieroglyphic Stairway with over 2,200 Maya glyphs carved into its 72 steps, and the Ball Court.
Furthermore, the vast forests of tropical rainforest that were preserved even during the Spanish colonial period are now designated as the Río Plátano Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.

Honduras offers experiences completely different from Japan, with its indigenous cultures, Spanish influences, and lush tropical rainforests.

With Oooh, you can travel around locally with peace of mind. Enjoy a tailor-made journey just for you.

Things you might be curious about when traveling to Honduras.

    Cash, cards and currency exchange
The local currency is the Lempira, but US dollars are also widely accepted.
It is recommended to exchange some cash into US dollars at Japanese airports or banks before your trip.
Credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard can be used at hotels and shops in urban areas.
    Tips
Tipping is not mandatory, but it is appreciated if you give a small tip when you receive good service.
Hotels and restaurants often include a service charge, but if not, a tip of around 10% is customary.
When using services such as porters or tour guides, a tip of about 1 USD is standard.
    Public order
Security in Honduras is improving, but gang-related crimes and drug incidents are still frequent. Since there is a perception that Japanese people carry money, please be especially cautious. Specifically, avoid dangerous areas and stay alert when you are outside.
    clothing
Thanks to the warm climate throughout the year, you can generally wear summer clothes like you would in Japan. However, during the rainy season from May to October, it can get chilly in highland areas, so it's a good idea to bring a jacket. Bringing sun protection will also give you peace of mind.
    Things you should bring
Multi-plug adapter, regular medications, mobile battery, overseas travel insurance, sun protection
    Visa availability and arrangements
There is a visa waiver agreement between Japan and Honduras, so for stays of up to 90 days for purposes such as tourism (not including activities that generate income, such as employment), a visa is not required.
    Required vaccinations
There are no mandatory requirements for travel.
However, those traveling from Honduras to countries designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as having a risk of yellow fever infection, as well as those entering Honduras from such countries, are required to carry the original Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate (Yellow Card).
