For 8 years, I gained expertise in planning, sales, and accompanying tours at a travel agency specializing in hidden gems in Japan. Afterward, I was captivated by Guatemala, which I visited on a single-day accompanying tour, and moved there alone. I worked in Guatemala for 10 years as a cultural and public relations officer at the Japanese Embassy in Guatemala. Building connections in Guatemala, I established a travel agency approved by the government tourism bureau in January 2004 with my husband, Shingo Matsumoto, to introduce the charms of Guatemala to more Japanese people. I have over 30 years of experience in the travel industry, holding qualifications as a travel business manager and a guide approved by the Guatemalan government tourism bureau. I will deliver the full charm of Guatemala and Central America!

In my previous job at a major travel agency, I took care of Japanese expatriates and companies in South America.
With the cooperation of many people from the Japanese community, I learned about South America's unique business customs and realized how difficult the countries were. This experience led me to want to provide the speed, quality, and meticulous service that Japanese people demand, which was the impetus for starting my business.
Based on my knowledge and insights gained from nearly 10 years of travel industry experience in Brazil, I am studying daily to become the only local operator that can properly propose and explain the local conditions of places very far from Japan and that are difficult to understand.

Since childhood, I've been interested in other countries. During college and after starting work, whenever I had free time, I would think about where I wanted to go. (Money didn't follow, so I couldn't go outside of Japan often...) Sometimes I would leave Narita with only a rough plan and an airline ticket.
Now I'm living in South America, which I never imagined. "You never know what life will bring," I think these days.
However, after starting my life in Ecuador and encountering Ecuador's wonderful tourist resources and crafts, I wanted more people around the world to know about them, and if possible, contribute to the country's development, so I knocked on the door of a local travel agency.
The place on the other side of the globe, which you might think of as "far away," might feel much closer once you come. Let's forget the everyday and share new encounters and experiences together. I'll be waiting for you on the other side of the globe.

What kind of country is Honduras?

Honduras is a Central American country with an area about one-third the size of Japan.
Honduras was discovered by the Spanish explorer Columbus in the 16th century, but it is said that various indigenous peoples had already lived there, developing unique cultures and engaging in trade. The Copán Maya ruins, which offer a glimpse into life at that time, are now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Notable features include the Acropolis with its remaining Altar Q, the Hieroglyphic Stairway with over 2,200 Maya glyphs carved into its 72 steps, and the Ball Court.
Furthermore, the vast forests of tropical rainforest that were preserved even during the Spanish colonial period are now designated as the Río Plátano Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.

Honduras offers experiences completely different from Japan, with its indigenous cultures, Spanish influences, and lush tropical rainforests.

With Oooh, you can travel around locally with peace of mind. Enjoy a tailor-made journey just for you.

The Plátano River is 100 km long, and the rainforest along its banks has been protected as an area that is rarely entered by people, where indigenous Miskito people live a simple life. The basin features diverse vegetation, including rainforests, savannas, wetlands, and mangrove forests along the riverbanks, but it is characterized by its mountainous terrain.

Things you might be curious about when traveling to Honduras.

Cash, cards and currency exchange
The local currency is the Lempira, but US dollars are also widely accepted.
It is recommended to exchange some cash into US dollars at Japanese airports or banks before your trip.
Credit cards such as Visa and MasterCard can be used at hotels and shops in urban areas.
Tips
Tipping is not mandatory, but it is appreciated if you give a small tip when you receive good service.
Hotels and restaurants often include a service charge, but if not, a tip of around 10% is customary.
When using services such as porters or tour guides, a tip of about 1 USD is standard.
Public order
Security in Honduras is improving, but gang-related crimes and drug incidents are still frequent. Since there is a perception that Japanese people carry money, please be especially cautious. Specifically, avoid dangerous areas and stay alert when you are outside.
clothing
Thanks to the warm climate throughout the year, you can generally wear summer clothes like you would in Japan. However, during the rainy season from May to October, it can get chilly in highland areas, so it's a good idea to bring a jacket. Bringing sun protection will also give you peace of mind.
Things you should bring
Multi-plug adapter, regular medications, mobile battery, overseas travel insurance, sun protection
Visa availability and arrangements
There is a visa waiver agreement between Japan and Honduras, so for stays of up to 90 days for purposes such as tourism (not including activities that generate income, such as employment), a visa is not required.
Required vaccinations
There are no mandatory requirements for travel.
However, those traveling from Honduras to countries designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as having a risk of yellow fever infection, as well as those entering Honduras from such countries, are required to carry the original Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate (Yellow Card).
