Cash, cards and currency exchange

・ For currency exchange, US dollars in Japan are more circulated than Japan yen in the United States, so please exchange for US dollars in Japan. Currency can be exchanged at banks, cash ticket shops, foreign currency home delivery, etc.
・In the United States, you can pay by card at most stores. Please note that many stores do not carry JCB, which is a Japan card brand. Some stores only accept credit card payments.

Tips

・It is customary to give tips.
The market price of the tip will be about 15% to 20% of the service fee. If the slip says "Gratuity Included", you don't have to pay because the tip is included in the total price.
・ It is a violation of etiquette to tip with surplus change, so be sure to give it with bills. We recommend that you have more $1 bills with you during your stay.

Public order

The United States is by no means a safe country. Hazardous areas include Detroit-Michigan, St. Louis-Missouri, Monroe-Louisiana, New Orleans-Louisiana, and Memphis-Tennessee. It is characterized by the fact that there are many people who are financially impoverished, and tourists in particular tend to be thought to have money, so they are easy targets.
・In order not to be involved in crime, please try to avoid dangerous acts such as approaching the dangerous areas mentioned above, walking alone at night, forgetting to close the zipper of your bag, and carrying a large amount of money.

clothing

・Even in the season when the temperature is high during the day, it gets cold in the mornings and evenings, so be sure to bring something that you can wear over the top, such as a sweater or jacket. It is also useful to have a light jacket to prevent cold caused by excessive air conditioning in the room.
Los Angeles is warm even in winter, so you don't need a thick coat. In summer, the sun is stronger, so sun protection is also essential.

・Gastrointestinal medicines, cold medicines, mobile batteries, wet wipes, tissues, sunburn goods, etc.

Visa availability and arrangements

・ If you want to visit or do business within 90 days, you basically do not need to obtain a visa. However, please note that instead of a visa, you are required to obtain an electronic travel authorization through the Visa Waiver Program ESTA. ESTA must be obtained online in advance, and once authorized, it is valid for two years, allowing you to travel to the U.S. as many times as you like.
・It is desirable that your passport is valid for at least 90 days from the date of entry.

Required vaccinations

There are no mandatory requirements for travel.
However, vaccinations against hepatitis A, measles, rubella, tetanus, chickenpox, etc. are recommended.
